Intercooler parts

I am kicking around the idea of throwing on an intercooler. Just thinking about fair prices for all the parts. I know i'll need an early 99 spyder, some pipes, and the cooler itself. What would be fair to pay for each of those? The pipes, i might just get SD pipes and modify them. So what should i pay for a set of SD pipes?

Thanks guys.

Ya, ive seen them over on PSN for 150 as well and i keep passing on it cuz i figure i can do cheaper. What about pipes? I know theres a guy on Ebay selling custom pipes for our trucks for 180 or something like that. But if i could get SD pipes for cheaper, then just fab them to work.

yea, the guy i saw on PSN said "7.3 intercoolers go for 150 on PSN all the time"
he had the 99 spyder for sale too for 150.

All us over here at FTE know you can get a 6.0 cooler for less than 100. And they do a better job.

Watch Craig's List for IC's. I bought a 7.3 and then later a 6.0 locally for $125-150 each including pipes, boots, and clamps. Early 99 spiders are really hard to find at times, when I did my IC used ones were going for over $200 on ebay. Start buying all those $80 spiders Talyn and you'll double your money on every one. I ended up buying a Banks Twin Ram intake, it was about $300 but reuses the stock boots and clamps, unlike the early 99. I built my pipes from the 7.3 and 6.0 pipe material. I have about $500 total into the IC.

The other tip I forgot is to check out some RV type places that sell and install Banks products. I bought my 6.0IC from a guy that had a Banks kit put on his truck. Those guys will sell the take offs cheap.

I was looking at my truck yesterday while replacing the glow plugs and got to looking at the area where the IC pipes would need to go thru the support and thinking "how the ^%$# would I ever get all these wires and hoses out of the way to install an IC?" It's a stinkin' mess on the passenger side.

It's really not that bad Chase, I thought that too until I moved a couple things, stuck a tube down there and checked.

How much modification would SD pipes need?
