Who unloads the train cars anyway?? One pickup was unloaded from that batch and it showed up last night, all by itself no less.

Now that I'm done complaining I'm going to pour myself a nice tall whiskey, add an ice cube or two and put this crap to rest until Monday. Have a nice weekend guys!!
My truck sat in a rail car after it arrived at its destination for 3 days. Lucky I was out of town during those days or I would have been a mess. Went down to the dealer today and took the salesman with me to the rail yard. We picked up the truck together from the Union Pacific terminal in Salt Lake City. That was cool. Driving it to the dealership from the rail yard and then watching/waiting as they went through their checks. Can I just say that THIS TRUCK IS AWESOME!?! All of the anxiety while waiting is really self-inflicted and all is forgiven the moment you sit in that beautiful cockpit. My advice to everyone who is waiting... just hang in there and try, just try to be patient. I know it is hard but dang, the finished product is worth the wait!

KTP to be shut down for 2 weeks for scheduled vacation

KTP will be shut down during the weeks of July 5th and July 12th for vacation according to the linked UAW newsletter. It was announced earlier that the plant would be running 2 shifts on Saturday June 26th, one week prior to the plant shut down.

Could make the wait a couple weeks longer for some of you with trucks on order if they're not built before the interruption in production.

The newsletter also indicated that Ford is addressing some quality issues by increasing the size of the quality control staff.

Anyone know if Ford will use this shut-down to start Job #2? This is normally what the manufacturer will do during the summer break which is to make changes to the line and incorporate vehicle changes as well. Wonder what will be different when they start back up...

I ordered mine today and on the paperwork it was listed as a job 1. With a 8-10 week delivery one would think it would be a job 2 if that were the case.

Job 1, 2, 3 are like versions of software. Ford initially produces the test mules (beta software) to work in a real-world environment. They learn much during that time which usually last a year or two and settle on the final production specs the vehicle. The first production run for retail sale is called Job 1 (version 1.0). During this phase, Ford is mass-producing vehicles and hyper-sensitive to market feedback. The production line is also debugged to assure quality and consistency. At some point in the future, they again take all these learnings and make changes to the vehicle and assembly line and stamp the updated trucks with a Job 2 (version 2.0) designation. Job 2 is usually produced for a longer time. Each summer the American manufacturers shut down their lines to update products and assembly processes. Sometimes the result of the updates get a new designation as a new job number.

Yes, I rather thought it might be something like that.
Thanks for taking the time to post such a clear and comprehensive explanation.

Order bank for Super Dutys has dropped by 3,689 trucks

The long hours and working last Saturday have paid off as the Super Duty order bank at KTP has dropped from 34,182 trucks on June 4th to 30,493 today. That's the first reduction in the order bank since mid-April. After the 2 week shut down, the plant is expected to work 6 more Saturdays between mid July and the end of December.

I guess we will see if they push out any serious 4th of july sales that clear out some in the dealership lots and get more orders going. Im sure the 2 week shutdown till null out any help working saturdays so far have done. Corse im sure ford would have to have 100k plus on that list if they keep pumping them out as many as they are doing right now lol

The orderbank might be around 40-45.000 after shutdown for July-vacation.

Newsletter from 1 July 2009 "The current 2010 order bank is: Super Duty-16,844 units"

The August 11 newsletter says. Order Bank: F Series-21957 units;

The productionfigures are much higher now.

Is there anything to the fact that the shut-down matches up with when the current incentives expire. Just wondering since my ETA is July 5. I'm not to optimistic about taking delivery by the 6th. Anyone have any info or heard any rumors as to what is expected for incentives after the 6th?

Since your delivery date is so close to when the incentives are changing, have your dealer prepare a buyer's order dated before the incentives expire. Sign it an you're guaranteed that if the new incentives are not as good, you can get the current ones. If the new incentives are better, the dealer tears up the pre-signed buyer's order and creates another one after the incentive change date.
