Also he says never never mill 6.0 heads. just better to replace them. Any thoughts.
I believe that's Ford's stance on the head issue, but mine are milled and have handled beautifully. You just can't mill too much off that's the key. Need to make sure you find a very good machine shop.
heads off in 5 hours parts cleaned in 2, running again in 8 more hours. gravy easy job. all with the cab on.
I took me 5 to disassembe mine last weekend. I will be doing the reassembly tomorrow. All with the cab on I don't think removing the cab or engine would save that much time.

IMO any DB that will tell you to machine the heads till they are like mirrors should be avoided. That person knows nothing about machining and rms patterns.
any head/deck/block that is mirror smooth will not hold a gasket.
All the above are machined with patterns that are called RMS. that pattern is basicly there to help retain the gasket in place.
