new truck
2010 F250 6.4 liter crew cab Lariat - great deals currenlty thanks to new 2011 models coming out
just started my own company and mileage is racking up fast 1300 this week alone and it is only Thursday May 6...
out of the box (no modifications) hand calculated 18.8 mpg mostly highway
3.55 rear automatic trans - I am very pleased
I researched as many problems as possible so I hope I know what to look for so that nothing major happens
question - how often will the 'cleaning exhaust' happen (I know depends on driving but estimate every 1000 miles, 2000 miles etc). Also bypassing the dpf - how difficult is this?
Thanks
Ray
So what is the norm? Hard to really say but If I had to ball park it...somewhere around 150 miles you can probably expect a cycle. But see even that will vary.
I can use me for an example.
Unloaded around 500 miles, loaded around 150 miles, but my unloaded does not include any city miles.
city miles, stop and go will make it regen sooner.
Now, to bypass this issue the DPF can be removed, they call if for off-road applications. To remove the DPF you will require a programmer to modify the programming in the PCM and then of course a straight pipe to go in place of the DPF.
Hope that helps.
based upon watching the message board int he truck the first cleaning was at 155 miles, the second occured at 1150. Most of my use for the truck will be unloaded (lots of highway miles). I will do some towing
have 1998 Mastercraft ski boat - 2800lbs
a few old cars with open single place trailer - 5000lbs with car loaded
Can't wait t see how the truck handles this. I have been using my wifes 2007 suburban without any significant issue.
I am located in Northern IL - any suggestions as to who to use for the programming?
Thanks
