Short or long block?

A short block usually includes the block, crank, rod, pistons, and rings, and may include timing gear/chain and cam.
A long block includes heads, and sometimes includes oil pump and oil pan. Rarely includes intake manifold. It may or may not include valve covers.
You really need to find out exactly what is included with either the short block or the long block from whoever you are buying it from.
