I pulled a 351w out of an 84 and put it in my 83 f150 that had a 351W. I has the canadian distributer in it and it had a miss so i got the us model distributer and put it in got the timing rite and everything took it for a test drive and got about a mile down the road and it was running awsome. then it started bogging down and running like crap. it bogs then takes off and runs perfect it switches back and forth alot then it will take off for a while then it does it again. its so weired i dont know what to do anymore im stumped any suggestions.
It could be that you have issues other than the ignition itself. You may want to check the fuel filter, fuel delivery system in general, vacume leaks, choke, curb idle adjustments etc. If you've just done an engine swap there may be alot of unknowns that you wouldn't necessarily have otherwise.
still nothing ive done everyting rebuilt the carb, new plugs wires cap rotor for both distributers new distributer (us model) all the vacume lines all hooked up new fuel filter. each distributer misfires diffrent. ive never had this much trouble with a truck.
ya that didnt work. the thing runs good till it desides to bog down after a few seconds to a few minutes if i try to give a little gas it will rev up then bog down and it backfires through the carb
