How hard is it to install the 3" dp, it does not look like the is enough room behind there.
Q#2 Aftermarket ehaust
I would like to put the 3" dp on and then go to a single or dual 5" stacks but I also found a 4" turbo back w/ muff or no muff for about the same price that i would have into getting the dp and stack kit. I have stacks from old semis around the farm.
Q#3 4X4
My truck is 2wd and i regret buying it. I wish i had waited for a 4x4. Has anyone converted their 2wd to 4wd, i have plenty d60's and some inpependents. What would it take besides plenty of work.
1. The downpipe isn't hard. Get a long sawzall blade (or a couple) and cut the "head" off the top of the stock downpipe. You also might need to cut it in half near the bottom. New downpipe takes a little twisting to get it in from the top. Also cut the body seam halfway down in two places and bend it up as much as possible. A port-a-power works great for that.
2. Exhaust is just your preferance. I like stacks but not how much space they take up in the bed.
3. I regret buying my 2wd also but swapping to 4x4 isn't too hard. Springs, shackles, axle, steering components... Then the trans and transfer case. If you have an auto you have to either tear it down and swap in the 4x4 output shaft and rear case, or buy a new 4x4 trans. Not sure on a manual trans. Lots of guys have done this swap, but most started with a donor truck.
I have a donor truck back home so I will be doing a 4x4 and Manual trans swap when I move back.
4. Don't know of anyone selling right now... Jim at Rosewood Diesel DIY-Injectors.com sells PHP chips for $350 with 6 tunes. I love mine.
ok the dp i can do and and stacks which one is louder i am running 3" straight pipe and no kitty. Has anyone done a write up w/pics on the 2wd to 4wd. and i was thinking about php's 6 pos chip
on my old truck the down pipe was a PITA but it is an awsome mod that dont cost much definatly can feel and hear the differnce but sold it since it was a 2wd dually and i was tired of being stuck on wet grass. still not looking forward to putting a new down pipe on the new 4x4
Ok I really don't want to cut holes in my box and then not like the stacks but I like the miter cut stacks but how do u keep the water out and it looks like the 4wd conversion is a pita and what is a porta power and what does obs stand for
You won't get much water down the stacks unless it's raining a lot. BUt you can make or buy stack covers for when it's parked.
The 4wd conversion is a lot of work, but not too difficult if you have all the parts.
A porta-power is kinda like the jaws of life. It spreads apart with a lot of force so if you stuck a 2x4 or something against the block and the body you could bend that seam up easily.
OBS = Old Body Style Basically the pre-superduties
Grizzly11, I've got pics of my conversion in my gallery. It was a lot of work, but not real hard. Midwest Dually has a conversion thread for one he's just starting. Really good pics so far. Also, Wildstang is doing on and I believe Neal is planning one as well, so, ask away. I just finished mine in January.
