'96-'99 Taurus ventilation system

'96-'99 Taurus ventilation system
Last fall I posted a question about the Taurus ventilation system as my a/c quit working (compressor ran and cycled) and the heat was uncontrollable. Everything I read and posted elsewhere led me nowhere.
Today I put my car in the shop to have the vent system repaired and it turned out to be a failed vent door motor.
For those of you that have this generation Taurus with the semi automatic climate control system, the car has three vent door motors and none of them are controlled by vacuum.
As luck would have it, my failed motor sat right behind the radio stack so it was an easy fix. Total price was $225.00. Not too bad. The other two are buried deep into the dash and would have cost over $600 in parts and labor. Simpy not worth it for a car this old.
Anyway, just thought I would share and educate.
