AAMCO wanted to charge me $1500 for a trans rebuild I didn't need.
Sounds like every AAMCO I have ever heard of.
BigRigMike, you can have the codes cleared at some auto parts places (Autozone, etc.) then drive it and see if it sets different codes. It's possible that you fixed the original problem, but since the code was set it thinks you haven't.
well i replaced the OSS and it's still dying on me when it is idling, so the codes that it threw out where BULL *****!!! now where do i go from here? MAF? or IAC? plz help!!
So it does not want to idle? Will it do this in any gear? Will it drive down the road?
If you keep your foot on the throttle, can you keep it running? And does it run ok then? If so, it is the IAC valve (Idle Air Control). Not too tough to change. About $45
when i first start it up for the day it will die a few times untill it warms up completely then its fine, no probs for the rest of the day, and it will die when in gear 1,2,D or reverse and Park, and when i restart it after it has died, sometimes its a little hesitant and sputters a little. hope that helps some.
The sputtering makes sense, it's common on a vehicle that dies that way to choke on a little gas when it starts back up, even hesitate on the first cyclinders compression.

IAC valve. Remove it and clean with carb cleaner. If the problem clears up a bit you've found it. Probably will have to replace with a new one to completely fix it. The trans codes that you saw were set as a RESULT of the stalling not the cause. A bad IAC will cause the stall. OBD has a tough time diagnosing IAC issues therefor it is not likely that you will set any codes.
well then i guess i will try the IAC, i will clean it out and see what happens and let you all know. now to make sure of this, its located on the intake manifold behind the throttle body housing correct? thanks for all the help guys

Do a search and you'll find posts that include pictures of it's location but you have it right. It is behind the throttle body. Two 10mm (I think) bolts and a single electrical connector. There's a gasket too so make sure it doesn't fall down when you are removing it.
I have to say thanks to all who have helped me, it turned out to be the IAC valve took it out cleaned it with some B-12 chem tool put it back in started it up and the cel went off, took it for a test drive and no stalling!!
thx again
I had that for an entire year and couldnt find anyone who could fix it> My truck would only do it while idling in gear: OD would flash then truck would stall< truck would not restart unless key turned to off position then it would start and be normal. It always gave error code of speed sensor and no tranny codes> Friend of mine had same problem and his was a misfiring coil> Mine ended up being a bad ground on the battery!!!
Seems crazy!!!!!!!!
