Ok so heres the deal, I have changed spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, Distributor cap, rotor and spark plug wires... changed the oil and now i am getting hesitation from idle, it happens once in a while and hesitates as if its going to shut off... I have also noticed a hissing sound coming from the engine and am wondering if this is at all related and where would i start to look, when i stick my head under the hood to try and determine whereabouts the hissing is coming from my best guess is the driver side... Hard to tell with the fan blowing.
Back to the hesitation, I rechecked all of my lines and connections and all seems well, when i come to a complete stop it hesitates when i give her gas, but have also notice when i slow to turn and get back on the gas it hesitates as well... I have recieved an awful lot of help here and hope I can recieve some more... I promise to pass it on at some point. Thank you. Its a '76 Ford F-250 2x4 with a 2 barrel carb.. Oh one other thing she kinda shudders when i go in reverse...
it will make the engine rev up a little bit, that way you can pin point if there is a vacuum or intake leak somewhere on the motor. start the motor up and squirt just a little bit in the carb and you will see what im talking about. if it revs up like that elsewhere on the motor, say your throttle linkage, carb spacer, or along where the intake bolts to the heads/block or directly on a vacuum line you have a leak somewhere.
