Window regulator lubricant
Got my door & window hardware mechanisms all painted; ready to install but need to lubricate first.
The manual calls out Fort part# lubricant 8A-19586-A which I doubt exists today, so what have others used ?
I thought I read here once that DO NOT grease, as the windows will not stay up. Would a graphite spray work ?

I used white lithium grease. So far no issues...

I've used white lithium grease on my car as well, works beautifully, don't get it on anything you're going to paint. The not staying up problem is the first I've heard of it, which also means I know nothing about that problem, lol.

Gee, I was thinking White Lithium Grease !!!!
Can't believe nobody else thought of it....
We are actually required to use it in our Military applications because it handles weather really well.

In case none of the other ideas here work out for you, you might try some good old white lithium grease. Just a little in the roller tracks and gear teeth will work wonders. The stuff is good for about anything that ails you.
If your windows don't stay up, it's probably a matter of weak springs in the regulator, rather than the tracks being lubed properly.

They make the grease in an spray can too, works great like spraying wd40 or something. Quite helpful if you want to grease a hard to reach area.

Try some black lithium grease.
Thought I'd give you an option.

Felts
Ross;
The manual calls for the felts; but mine must have been discarded or lost at some point. I've got some soft rubber washers that I am going to try; as long as they don't bind. The key would be allowing the arms to slide freely I suspect.

I meant the window channel felts; they provide friction on the glass. Sometimes quite a bit!

Duh
Missed that one entirely, makes sense.
I used rubber washers on the regulator pins, to soften the action on the window lift channel
Thanks

Do you not have the little rollers that attach to the regulator pins, and roll in the channel at the bottom of the glass?

That's a scary looking photo. Are you sure that's a truck part and not something a Doctror puts into you ?
