Really need some help guys

Ok I posted something before about my problem with the ts 6 position chip i bought from my buddy steve. It runs perfect with the stupid single position diablo sport chip i bought it with. If i take it out runs fine but is an absolute dog cant get out of its own way. I have it to the floor all the time and no matter how long i hold it cant make more thn 7psi of boost to save my life. averages 2 or 3psi if is not wot. now when I put the 6 position chip in the functions of it works fine (the high idle, no start) but when driving it doesnt have as much power and shifs hard. it will rev to 2000 rpm then stay there for a few sec and jumps to 3500 and will repeat. Almost as if i floored it then back right off and floored it again a buch of times. Now I know the chip works great because we have tried it in 2 of my friends trucks and it works awsome. So I really thought it was the pcm because maybe the other chip did something to it. bought a pcm from a guy that sells a bunch of parts and it does the same dam thing. Now I know its not the pcm we checked the sensor on the driverside manifold above the valve cover. Anybody have an idea what else it could possibly be. Engine runs perfect so I know its nothing internally. Do you think it could be the map sensor or idm even though it runs perfect with the piece o **** diablo in it. i feel like those things i would notice all the time. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Ive been trying to figure out this problem for months now and keep coming back to square one. Im loosing my mind on this one

probably isnt programmed for that pcm code or the one you experimented with. There are a number of different PCM programs for these trucks if you arent using the right one the chip is telling it to do something else or nothing at all.

That or a dealer reflash may be in order. Weve seen that before with cheap aftermarket chips like your diablo same thing happend to alot of people who use edge.

You have a manual or an auto?
did your friend have a manual or an auto?

if he had an auto, and you have a manual, it probably wont run right, or visa versa.

The PCMs' are diff programing for each trans.

Between the years there is some different stuff as well.

It's weird I tried it in steves truck which is same year as mine but a 5 speed and it worked fine and we tried it in richs truck which is a 97 with an auto and it worked fine. Mine is also an auto. The PCM that I got came out of a 97 so I am confused why it won't work in my truck

Auto pcms work in manuals but manuals dont work in autos. The manual doesnt have the programming for the tranny since it doesnt need if your manually shifting the gears and therefore the auto pcm with the programming wont matter since it isnt used on the manual. thats one reason. There are still acouple differnt codes between the years of 97 is it a 49 state pcm or a cali etc ther are variables that the chip could be programmed for that will effect the response.

I'd send the chip in to be re-programmed with better tunes. Like from PHP or TW. And get the PCM reflashed at the stealership.

Yea I might have to do that it will just really suck cuz I got that PCM for a 100 and ford want 130 for a reflash plus a reburn on the chip is atleast 50. on top of what I already paid for the chip. Kinda screwin my self over. WTF

That's pretty cheap for a PCM. You could probably Ebay it for more than that and get some money back.

The chip has Matt's tunes on it from Gearhead. It was tuned for a 95 auto but I don't remember the pcm code. I do know that it's code and my code (97 TDE1) is different and it worked just fine in my truck. Shaun, have you had a (good) scanner on it to see if it throws any codes with that chip in it or even without the diablo in it? That might be the next step in this equation and could get some live data at the same time so we can see what the IDM and PCM are commanding the truck to do.

well if tahts the case, then we can take your pcm and put it in my truck and try that, didnt know if it would set a code or some kind of error if i tried your pcm. we can try that when i get out of class tonight if you want. besides, ive been dying to try matts chip with the 2s now

more information, me and shaun swaped map sensors, no change with and with out new pcm/chips. we unplugged icp sensor, no change in response time, solid 5-6 second rev to 3000 rpm. IPR nut is still on. unplugged manifold pressure sensor and nothing changed. i figured unplugging sensors and getting a CEL forces pcm to use OE specs to run correctly, and absolutetly nothing changes.

What the hell does a diablo have that all the other chips dont!!!
