I am posting this for my brother who has a 91 f250 4x4, he is having a heck of a time doing his front brakes. He can't seem to get his rotors off to replace them. Does anybody have a step by step guide or link that I can print off for him and get him back on the road? I'm not sure what tools he has, so if there is something special he needs can you give me a heads up. Thanks in advance.
Yes, what he said - first you take the locking hubs apart, then you pull the spindle nut, then slide the whole wheel hub and rotor as one, then beat the studs out - one all studs are out the rotor will separate fro the wheel hub.
Ok, so after waaaay to long in my brothers drive way, he trying to get his front hubs back together and came across a little gear that he doesn't know where it goes. It seems to fit either right in the front of the hub or at the rear. It nestles in good at the front of the hub so that is my vote, but it's always better to ask when we don't know, right? right! Before you ask, he did try taking the passenger side apart and looking but, that side didn't have the little gear, or at least he couldn't find it. He also tried to go the the junk yard for some recon but, they don't have an intact hub. Any help would be great! Also if there is any liks to a schematic that would be great too. Thanks.
Some of them are one piece units, some of them come apart in pieces.
If that is what I think it is, should slide in from the outside and has a spring behind it.

OK, judging by the exploded view, it looks like it is the spacer behind the hub. I will let him know this morning, and hopefully get him back on the road!
i know its too late now but in future tell him when he takes things apart to lay them out on a rag in the order he removed them, i would do that at work when i wasnt sure or it was the first time i did something. i just saves a headache down the road and also jogs your memory a bit.

Thats the way I do it as well, real handy when working on drum brakes, hubs, carbs, etc..
