I have a 1999 F-250 Super Duty 4wd 7.3 with a 4'' suspension lift and I need new shocks on front and rear. I can get a set of rancho rs5000's for 116.00 after a 50dollar rebate. Just wondering if these will do the job or if anybody reccomends different ones. I don't really tow or haul anything very heavy just lawnmower trailers and an occasional boat. Thanks.
I have to agree but they are expensive. My rancho's work good but look like crap in a year, man I hate that. I was thinking of pulling them and doing some paint work.
I've had good results with the Rancho RS5000's over the past 20+ years. and have yet to break one. They are good shocks, and that's a very good price for a set of four. I have started using the Superlift shocks on my trail rigs, since I often change lift height and set-ups. They sell the same $32 new shock for about $8/ea on their Scratch & Dent store on ebay. In fact the last two sets I bought were for a 4" lift on an F-250/F-350 truck. JSM84
I installed a set of Rancho RS9000XL's and got the $100.00 rebate. I love the shocks - they give me adjustability in less than 1 minute. With no load I run them on the softest setting, which are just a tad softer than stock. On the stiffest setting they are more like Bilsteins. So if you want a soft ride either get the 9000's or the stock shocks. If you want stiff stiff get the Bilsteins. I think the 5000's are somewhere in the middle.
Well, since we are throwing out opinions - I think RS5000 are too light for the Superduty. I have Bilsteins and like them, and they solved an issue for me. But I'm a little jealous of the RS9000 adjustability and guys who have those speak highly of them. If I did it again I might go with the Rancho RS9000, but I would definitely skip the RS5000 series.

What username do they use on Ebay? I can't find them.
I've been running the RS9000's for about a month and like them. Very easy to adjust which is a bonus...I run 5 on fronts and 4 on rear and it's a good ride.
All I can say is if the Bilsteins are like the RS9000's on 8 or 9's all around I would hate that ride, way to rough (but haven't run bilsteins so don't know).

It was Superlift. I'll see if I can find a link to their store in my files.
I have also used the RS9000X shocks, have had them on my 98 Z-71 for about 5 years. They are a better shock than the RS 5000's, but I usually run them on 7 on the rough roads we have around here. That's real close to what the RS5000's are like. I think they may be a bit light for a heavier truck. JSM84
Thanks guys. Think I'm just gonna go with the bilstein 5100's. I will have around 250 in them. I've been reading up on shocks all over the internet and they seem to get the best reviews out of everything.
Hope this link works. The seller is "scratch_and_dent". This link is to the $4 shock, which looks rough by the pics. All of the one's I have bought are much nicer than that, but still got a light coat of white paint to look purdy. JSM84
