I've been thinking of putting some Ford splash guards on my wife's 03 EB expedition (black/arizona beige tu-tone), and have just found out that they only come in the arizona beige color. I'm curious if anyone out there has installed these on there Expy yet, and if so how do they look? Thanks.
I've had them on for a while now. They are okay and does greatly minimize the road splatter on your lower panels.
The beige does not perfectly match that of the EB. I guess due to the plastic, the color match is not perfect.
The front wheel guards are great because they are fitted right into the side running boards. In other words, the guard has a notch so that it fits right into that space (makes it look like the running boards cuts into the back of the guard).
The rear on the other hand, does not fit straight utilizing the stock screw holes. Looking from the back, the guards are "tipping" inwards on the bottom using the original holes and allowing the molded contour to match the curve of the lower panel. I have seen other Ford guards on EBs and it is the same so it must be the template they are using to drill these holes to match the body screws. I solved the problem by drilling my own holes in the guard but unfortunately the curves of the lower panel are not a perfect match with the molded contour of the guard now...but my guards are straight! It bugged me but may not others.
It is hard plastic so I could see them crack over time especially if you are driving on loose gravel, but better than your body paint!
No I don't think it's enough to take away from the appearance.
The guard is more of a tan beige whereas the Expy is more of a gold beige. I think it's bettan than black guards on the EB. I would say that most people wouldn't even notice that the guards are on (close enough to be OE standard equipment).
If you get them, let me know if you have the same problem about the rear guards.
All right, I had them put on today sight unseen. When I picked it up tonight they looked fine under the lights. When I got home I must have spent a half an hour or so in the garage studing it from just about every angle. I think they look fine from the side and rear, but from the front I'm not sure I like the way they look. I think they would look better if they had a more smooth appearance from the front view. You're right the back ones they do tilt in a bit. I will probably leave them that way for now.
I'm curious to see how they look come tomorrow in normal light conditions. Well regardless of what I think it's my wifes car and she's not going to let me drop another 80 bucks on black ones. At least not for awhile. I think you're right about most people probably not even going to notice no matter what color ones are on there. One of the other posters really does'nt like the way it makes the Expy look, but my initial impression is that they don't appear to stand out that much. Thanks for your input.
I'm sure their supplier could match the beige better but I guess it's close enough and they don't sell too many anyways. You'll really see the color difference in daylight.
I think they're more of a functional accessory than appearance so with that thinking...I'm perfectly happy with mine.
