Yuo, Its drivin time for sure.
Thanks for the Van Pelt link Ross. I will pick up the bushing and another rod wont hurt. I did measure it and it was close.
Julie, OT,....I did my front end less the king pins and your thread on "Front end savey" was a great help.
I may put the beefy cap from the old pump on this new pump if I get to messin around and try to get it workin some early Saturday Morn.
Thanks Folks
The pins are real tight, Actually the tie rod ends and drag links were also decent. I did shy away from the K pins but after reading your thread and others It seemed less scary. I will get them this fall.
I was so eager to get it rollin again I forgot to adjust the worm gear. while i had the drag ling off the steering arm. duh,. I will get it
I did fill the steering gear with gear oil,( it was real low,...maybe dry,) and it has leaked a bit, I will check it again and hopefully thats not a new project
I took another stab at getting my mechanical pump going again,
Got a new push rod in from Van Pelt. I pulled the pump stand and climbed up on them big fenders , lookin down into the intake for the rod and I can see a stub of the rod still in the bushing and the other half/part, leaning up against the inside wall of the intake manifold..........unbelievable. I pulled both pieces out with a magnet. When comparing the old and new push rods side by side. They were the same size but the old one was bent a bit. When I put the new rod in the thru the manifold and into the bushing it had a lot less wobble so I guess the bend is what made it seem like the bushing was worn . I put the Pump on the stand,....set the stand/pump in place, bolted it down, hooked up the lines, primed it with the electric pump and it fired right up...
Thanks
