Im getting ready to tow a half ton 4x4 700 miles on a tow-dolly.
should I tow it with the rear wheels down or front wheels down??
The truck is an automatic with the push button 4x4, no lockouts.
If I tow it with front wheels on the dolly----should I pull the drive shaft?
The best option would be to find a trailer that can carry the entire truck, but if you're going to tow with a dolly, front wheels up and remove the driveshaft.
Look in the owner's manual for the TOWED truck - it gives the towing procedure. If you can't find it, the '93 Bronco manual I have says pull the rear shaft, lift the front wheels, and don't go over 55mph.
Do like Johnsdiesel and Steve83 said. Front wheels up, and pull the drive shaft. That puts the weight on the dolly, and the transmission is not turning. This is the safest way to tow with a dolly.
