I have been doing some looking and wanted to know if you think Crane Cams Powermax cam would be a good choice for a 429 BB. Jeg's Part# 270-353902. 260/272 duration and 487/518" lift. With an RPM range of 1200-5500. They state that this engine produces "Brute" low end torque. Would I have to make any adjustments to the rocker arms?
My heads are DOVE-C and the block is a DIVE-6015-AA.
I know I have a lot of questions, but I am very new to the engine building scene. Sorry guys. I appreciate all of your feedback!!
That's a good streetable cam. It's very close to what I have. I'm useing Compcam X4262H-11 262/270 duration and 514/525 lift with 1:73 rockers. With those heads your going to want to put 7/16 screwed in-studs with guide plates, get the ones for 3/8 pushrods. The stock studs in those heads (I call bottle neckers) and those rail type rockers won't allow valve train adjustments. Plus they chew up the valve stems. So you will have to get the good stuff anyways. So a trip to the machine shop will be on your list of things to do. Get a good set of roller rocker and a good set of 3/8 push rods and don't go cheap on the push rods, Crane or Comp Cams will work. One last thing, Don't forget the push rod lenght checker, it's a must for the correct valve train geometry. Compcams web site explains it in great detail.

D0VE heads came with screw in 7/16 rocker studs. It's the later D3VE and after that have bolt down rockers that require the "bottle neck" conversion studs and a spacer. Also unless you are running Rockers that require 3/8 push rods don't waste your time. Just make sure you get the hardened push rods that fit your rocker arms for use with guide plates.
I've been real happy with the power gain from my CompCams 268h in my 460. With any cam, always install new lifters and if the cam is larger than stock, new matching valvesprings. Coilbind and valve float are a terrible thing.
