my 68 lincoln 460 has a crank driven ps pump, so i know i need
a need a new cover , do i go with a timing cover with a dipstick or
one without???the motor will have a rear sump pan for a 4x4,
so i'll assum i need a dipstick in the pan and not the cover??
Also i want to go with a duraspark dizzy, will the 351m/400
fit the 460???
Yes the rear sump pan has the stick in it. If you only have accwss to a cover with the tube in it its very easy to just tap the dipstick hole and plug it. The duraspark should be fine I have one in my 69 429.
Go with the timing cover without the dipstick, a front dipstick wont do any good on a rear sump pan. My 460 has an oversized off road rear sump pan but I already had a cover with a dipstick I just plugged it off.
I don’t think the distributor is interchangeable however if you want a used distributor try to find one from a 429 police interceptor this # will be stamped in the housing of the distributor D2Af-NA or D2AF-NC good luck.
