Blocked/pinched/kinked/cracked vacuum pipe or defective booster.
Pull the vacuum pipe off the booster, put the palm of your hand over the end of the pipe and get a helper to start the engine, it should feel like your hand is being sucked into the pipe.
If good vacuum at the pipe end then ease the non- return pipe fitting out of the booster and check that it is clear (you should be able to suck through it but not blow through it). If that checks out I would think the booster is bad.
I did pull the line from the booster while engine was running and place my finger over the end of the line and then I did get that suction. So, by all indication it must be a defective brake booster! Thanks a lot! I will exchange it on Monday and get back with you!
Thanks for all your help! I found out the real problem after I got the replaced brake booster! When I looked in the bottom of the box, I discovered a rubber sea! I showed it to my friend working on the aerostar, he remembered that he forgot to put in the rubber seal from master cylinder to booster. He then took that seal and inserted it and the rest is history! The brakes are now great and could stop on a dime! Thanks a lot! Have a blessed day!
