Smog removal

My 92 F250 351w has all the smog crap all over it, and i have no emissions tests to pass so i want to take it off. i already took the Cat off and the pipes coming from the smog pump are just hanging there.
the question is, if i just take all of the smog plumbing crap off is that going to mess with my fuel injection and or computer.. i dont know a lot about how the whole system works but i know that i want to get all the smog stuff off if i can.

any help is appreciated

Thanks
-Greg 92 F250

Nope, it only injects air into the exhaust at cold start to help the cat burn off the excess fuel, otherwise it's just along for the ride and has no effect on the engine. Take it all off except for the air pump(use it as an idler.. you could even gut it so it's not blowing air) plug the holes in the manifolds, but leave the TAB and TAD solenoids beside the coil electrically connected(remove or plug the vacuum lines on these though.)

What he said - as long as the solenoids are plugged in, the PCM will be happy. Do not get too industrious tho and toss the EGR out too, this one you actually need, and the engine works better with it than without it.

Set it all aside incase you sell it. The crap can get $ to replace. Just cause you don't need the emission test doesn't mean the next guy won't.

Brian has a good point, keep that stuff in a box somewhere in the garage or shed. Also it ain't so much for the looks, as it is about all the space removal of that stuff opens up, you know, like for reaching sparkplugs for instance.

Very good point. I think i remember that crossing my mind last year when i was changing spark plugs.

Also, does anyone have a picture of what the TAB and TAD solenoids look like, i am kind of new to the whole fuel injection thing and I am not too sure what you are talking about.

Thanks for all the help

I pulled all the smog off my 91 Bronco before I traded her. Unfortunately when I did that I didn't know I'd have to get a smaller belt... Yeah, total blond moment. Schucks had to special order the size belt I needed and quoted me something like $80 for a darn serp belt. Did some jimmy riggin and found a fun way... convert to carb! Heh. Plan on removing the smog on my F150. Can't stand all that crud.

If your going to do away with all the other crap, take the pump off too! Lose some weight and gain some power with a short belt. Just my 2 cents.
I am in process of swapping engines in my truck. I was contemplating getting rid of all the smog stuff as well. I don't have to do a smog test either, but you never know when they may start. Don't throw anything away!

I would remove the whole pump , but if you run the truck at higher RPMs i would use a FR idler pulley in place of the pump ....Lew
