Akebono pads

Just placed an order for a set of Akebono PROAct Ceramic Pads, both front and rear for $121. Hopefully should have them next week and installed by next weekend. Will let everyone know my thoughts. Otherwise, I hope they are as good, put off little dust and very little squeal as everyone says.

I got ceramic pads on my front. We all know fords are really bad about brake dust. I don't think mine have helped. I still get a lot of front brake dust. Maybe yours will be better though, I cant remember what brand mine are.

This is something I was very concerned about as well, since I have the chrome clad 18" rims. When I had my '02 F150, I put the EBC Greenstuff pads on and those were great, good stopping, little to no dust and no squeal. I was thinking about getting them, but they were roughly $40-$50 more per set than the Akebono's. And with people here praising them, I figured I'd go that route. If they put out too much dust and squeal, I may just have to brake the bank to get the EBC's again.

I have had the Akebono's for about 30,000 miles and have no complaints to report. Very little dust and no squeel. A great purchase!

Same here. They're the best thing I did to my truck. After 32K miles the pads and rotors look nearly new. When it's cold and damp they groan when backing out of the garage first thing in the morning, then they stay quiet the rest of the day.

I thought I had ceramics on the front but I don't. I actually have Duralast gold from the Zone. Actually they have wore really well and they are quiet. No noise, I can't complain about that. It's just the doggone dust. I hate my front wheels always being so grimey, and then I got to clean them more you know. I will for sure put these pads on next time if they dont put off dust.

That's why I went away from the Ford and semi-metallic pads, simply too much dust. Plus, my truck just rolled over 30K miles and the stock pads are done with. I hope to get my Akebono's on this upcoming weekend. I really hate having to clean the rims roughly every week, otherwise they have that brownish/redish haze from all the damn dust.

Update: Still waiting to install these pads.

I received the rear set last Friday (5/7), but have yet to receive the front set. Called the vendor on 5/10 and they said they just mailed them when UPS didn't even pick them up until 5/11 with a delivery date of 5/18.

So it looks like I won't be able to install them until 5/22-5/23. Don't want to tear the rear apart one day, then the front another day. Rather complete it all at once.

I'm a little upset with the vendor, being I ordered these on 4/30 and won't receive the fronts for 3 weeks. No call, no email, nothing stating they were on back order or nothing. Then they ship it by normal UPS land rather than 2-3 day.

Oh well will have them soon enough and don't need to purchase through this vendor again.

Where did you order them from? I am strongly considering biting the bullet and ordering the front pads. I still have a lot of life left in mine, but I am just so tired of the dust. I was thinking about ordering mine from rock auto, they had them for 63 plus shipping.

I got mine from rock auto.....but i'm slightly annoyed that they're often changing prices.....I bought plugs from them for 10 bucks one month....and when i needed a set the next month for the other truck they were 14......

Other than that they've been ok...
