OK I have my guages installed now, Finally!!!

So now what do I look for? Whats normal? Whats not? I got the Pyro, Boost and Tranny temp (as suggested else where on here)... What is the limits that I should concentrate on?

Looking at your signature, the first thing you should do is get rid of the K&N....Many reports of dusted turbo compressor wheels due to dirt getting by the filter...I use the 6637 but there are some better options.
As far as your gauges, you want to keep the pyro below 1250* Don't let the tranny temp get above 225*and the boost will depend on your right foot but you should not exceed 28lbs with your set-up..
Not 100% positive of these #"s but the Brotherhood will correct me soon.

Thanks for the info... Actually I have already gotten rid of the K&N I just have not changed that. But I didn't know about dirt getting by the filter... I went back to the Stock set up because I didn't like the extra noise, it was much louder than the stock unit.

If you are interested in fuel economy, you can use your boost gauge to find a cruising speed that uses the least boost. A general rule of thumb is more boost equals more fuel.

If the K&N made more noise than stock, it may not have been correctly sealed. I have also read that some people have had trouble with their K&N letting dirty air get by but that hasn't been my experience. I've had my K&N for the last 180k miles and it works great. I clean and oil it every time I change my fuel filter (15k intervals).

Here is a pic of my airbox with 180k miles of K&N use.

If you are noticing really high EGTs while cruising you could have a leak somewhere. But generally you dont want to exceed 1250 and around 220 on the tranny.

That looks like the stock box??? Are you using a direct K&N replacement filter in the stock box?

I had a Spectra tube and cone replacement... And it was a good bit louder than the stock filter and box. I suppose I could have done something wrong with it but followed the install destructions to the T. All I know for sure is that once I got the stock stuff back in, while not purring like that, it was like night and day where sound is concerned.

Thanks for the info on finding a cruising speed using the Boost, that is a great tip!

Yes, it's just the stock type K&N filter with a stock box. I've had it for a long time (almost 7 years). Back then, all I could find was the stock type. The cone type models came out later. I think the 'dusting' issue was with the stock type replacement filters though. I haven't heard of anyone having any issues with the cone or canister types, those seem to seal pretty well, however most people notice more turbo sound with those types of filters.

I am a little weird and not normal so take what I say with a grain of salt...when I first got my truck, I thought the stock intake and exhaust was absolutely huge. Especially when I compare to my hot rods of the 80's. Back then I was proud to have a 2 1/2" exhaust from my headers on back so the stock 3 1/2" pipes on these trucks seem like a they would work pretty well. The stock intake box seems like it is designed pretty well also so I haven't really felt the need to change it out for something better. I suppose if I was running larger injectors or hot tunes then I would be changing the intake and exhaust as well.
