Fix one thing another goes wrong

ok guys so im new here and ive been lurking for a while. i recently bought a 76 f100 ranger with a 360 auto. well the PO decided to goes custom with his gauges. well the wiring was horrible. hot wires with open ends bare wires EVERYWHERE. i got another cluster from a jy yesterday and dove in. kept the gauges that were in it jus changed the housing.wired everything back up to the best of my know how. well its all in and looks great but now..... it wont start in park. i have to put it in neutral.gas gauge doesnt work now and the speedo kinda bounces.

any help would be appreciated guys thanks!

Nobody wants to see a bouncing speedo Sorry, couldn't resist...
Anyway, the cable might need a little graphite on it as it's probably 'sticking' somewhere in the sheath...

As I understand it, you kept the custom gauges, but switched housings? Got a picture of that, by chance?

The not starting in park thing sounds like neutral safety switch - I have to sometimes smack my shifter upwards before I can start it in park - check the linkage between steering column and transmission - also check the wiring running to the switch to see if maybe it's shorting or something...

On the gas gauge thing, how many tanks do you have? Do you have a tank selector switch on the dash?

guess i wasnt clear lol. he went curtom by running all sorts of wires and putting in autolite gauges. the original cluster was still in but the broke out the clear plastic as well as the sides. so i kept the gauges and switched the cover my bad on that one. so its completely stock now.

as far as i know i only have one tank and no selector switch and the gauge worked fine before i did ne of this
