steering shaft removal

steering shaft removal

So I bought the new shaft, how do I get the old one off? I took the bolts out, but there isn't enough play to get it out, any hints?

This is for my 76 Highboy

I believe back when I did my borgeson unit I had to take the steering colulm loose and pull it towars the seat.

Yeah, the easiest way would be to loosen the steering column. That's why the Borgeson shaft is nice, you can just slide the shaft.

Thanks guys, I was wondering if I needed to move the column, I'll give that a shot.

Yep I have the Borgeson shaft going in...

Couldn't get the old shaft out, I ended up cutting. new one went right in, feels so much better now!!
