I accumulated a few pictures lately of the truck at work, so figured I'd post them.
I had to move some bales so that my cows would have something to eat, pasture is slow growing.
We bought a "bean planter" at a consignment sale. This was the easiest way to get it home. They loaded it by a payloader lifting it and a fork truck assisting, and then I backed the trailer under. We unloaded by driving in the ditch and a few bridge planks as ramps and pulled it off sideways.
These ARE Ford related, because it's a Ford New Holland tractor doing the work!
We finally got the autosteer installed and working in our tractor and got some fertilizer put on yesterday. This was my last pass in the field. We are strip-tilling; we put the fertilizer down in a strip, then we'll come back with the planter and put the seed in that same strip. The tool bar is a little rough, it'll get rebuilt this summer. Another purchase at an consignment auction.
its great to see these trucks used for what they were meant to do!!!! WORK
Mine is mainly a daily driver but i do pull a big camper a good bit....but it just seems more "right" to see these trucks on a farm or construction site being worked...i think the trucks actually look happier there too...kinda like getting a dog out of the pound (or big city) and setting him free out in the country...i know... I'll stop now
Those are both big loads.I bet it just cruised right on down the road.
It's fun knowing/feeling how well the truck handles those loads. The bales only traveled about 5 miles, but the planter was cruising down a 4-lane highway at 65 mph for about 90 miles.

The planter looks (for the most part) ready to go. We gotta get seed corn started, Pioneer hasn't said to start planting yet, should be next week.
The cows are fed plenty, probably on the fat side. They're a bunch of babies!

I didn't know you guys were strip much tilling back there.
The markers help draw attention to the fact that we aren't using them! They will probably be coming off. I'm looking at rebuilding the thing completely, putting all the row units on one tool bar instead of split up like they are. There's a dry fertilizer tank that goes on there in the middle, we pulled it off because it needs rebuilt and weren't using it this year.

It definitely gets worked. But it's in need of some major TLC!! Got a few fixes to do: u-joints, sway bar bushings, etc. It's been worked too hard I haven't had time to love on it. It has '05+ headlights and grille sitting in the garage, along with fender flares waiting to be put on. I got a lot of work to do on it before RRE!
Thanks! I like the rims a lot! But I keep wondering what it would look like with a little bit of lift (4" ?) and bigger tires. But then I wonder if I'd be able to get it under the trailers. I have to remember it is a work truck!
Hey Adam,
I'm a farming noobie, but I help out a local farmer I know, and I'm interested in farming in the future. He leases about 1000 acres, mostly field corn, some oats, some hay. I talk to him about different tilling options- he likes no-tilling whenever he can. Is this basically the same idea as your strip tilling?
Is that a PJ trailer? If so, I've got one. Love the tool boxes in the front, but it's the nosiest trailer I've ever owned. I have to spray the springs a couple of times a year to cut down on the squeaks and rattles.
I'm not exactly a city boy like Robin, but I'm also a long way from farm country like that. Great pics Adam, thanks for sharing. BTW, I like the rims too.
