ok stupid newbie question here!! There is what looks like a fuel line(about1/2in) running down beside my frame rail and has what looks like some sort of filter canister and it runs back to the fuel tank, is this like a bypass filter or what and what do i do when servicing my truck, I will try and post pics. Sorry its a 2000 7.3 ok pic is in my album!!
no it goes back to the tank and the canister is white and has a screw off drain plug, trying to post pics but having some issues!!! It is not really a canister but like pvc also has the name ASCO wrote on the drain plug
That's really strange. Can you follow the lines from both ends to see where the lines terminate for sure? I'm thinking some kind of home-made CCV catch, but it's pretty small for that.
And so everyone doesn't have to go in his gallery, here's the pic:
Thanks Izzy for posting that ok i just checked again and the line stops in front of the tank and is not attached to anything, just open So there is like a big mess back around my tank and on frame rails!! BTW this canister is leaking as you can see, I guess I will trace where it comes from
THat is where it goes, do I do anything with it when servicing my truck? And what is CCV?
Yeah, it looks like the PO did a CCV mod to your rig, but i'm not sure why that little bitty canister is even there, it has no media in it to catch the oil residue, unless that drain plug is pulled off the canister, it serves no purpose...IMHO, just take that thing off and let it vent to the atmosphere and get a vacuum plug from Advance Auto for the (not sure what it's called) place where the hose reconnects to the air intake tube...you can get a pack of various sized rubber vacuum hose plugs there for $2.89...i just bought a pack on Tuesday...
I will go get some pics for my gallery so ya'll can see WTF i'm talking about...lol
