ok, so i have my dp tuner on order, but i take it from the posts, that it is better to leave it in the stock setting tilll it warms up? and is it fine to switch between tunes while driving?

I dont change tunes with my foot on the pedal. Coast or at idle only.

jody recomends starting a cold motor in stock..i shut down every night and while im letting the EGT's drop i set it for stock then..that way i dont forget in morning when im in a hurry..the chip is a shift on the fly so yes you can switch on the go but not under heavy throttle..just let up on the go peddle switch and get back into it when the little dot stops blinking...the rest of the day i dont touch it at all unless its winter and the truck is parked for more the 4 hrs..

I believe Jody cautions against switching tunes while under load. Other than that switch away

Humm. I guess Jody changed this sense I had my live tunning in January '09. Once he put my chip back in my truck, I went to start it and I saw the chip was in level 7. I didn't start my truck, I asked Jody why he left the chip in a level other then stock. He said there is nothing wrong with starting the truck in any tune as long as it's not very cold. He said, don't dog it till it warms up. I will ask him again when I go May 19 for another live tunning.

mines not chipped but my but i drove one on tuesday that had DP tunes....the guys had like 8 different setting. i started out on 6 (what ever that was) and then he dropped it down to stock and i couldnt believe the difference it made....there was absolutley no throttle response.

Oh and he was switching thru all the setting while on the fly.

It shifted really hard....he said it had a shift kit in it which caused the hard shifts.

anyway i think it's safe to say that after i get all my other issues straightened out and my cash built back up I will have some DP tunes going in....nothing crazy...just enough for a grin

I am forced to drive mine in the stock setting all the time...what with not having my DP "YET"...maybe Jody will still offer the computer flash for the 80e to me again at RRE2010......here's to hoping
