Door plate info explanation
Where can I find the definitions of the info on the doorplate (VIN plate) of a 1970 F-100 4X2 with a 360 2 bbl? I can interpret the VIN but want to know what the other numbers mean---the two rows of numbers below the VIN. Thanks.

The 70 shop manual has that info in the front. These numbers and codes are for the series, color, body type, transmission, rear axle, HP rating, gross vehicle weight rating and the sales district code (DSO). Somebody here has that info and if you post your codes, we'll help you figure them out.

I believe they are in a Chilton manual. Also they are found in the original service manuals.
