I've Hit a True Milestone!!!
(without him, many of us would be lost souls). I cannot even begin to tally all of the invaluable information I’ve received from others and how much I’ve learned about these trucks. So to keep this post germane to this specific forum, what is the all-time favorite thing each of you likes most about your ’67 to ’72 Ford F-series truck?
Mine is the fact that my family has owned the vehicle since Day 1 and I learned to drive in this particular truck over 25 years ago (and a close second is all the attention I get from others who recognize and appreciate a true classic).
Everybody keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
As for what I like most about this particular era F series. The first thing that caught my attention was the styling...talk about love at first site. It just has a real ruggedness about it, a toughness that you don't see in any other trucks, old or new, period. And, imho, is a whole lot of fun to drive too.
I like these years for durability and parts swapping.
I got three of'em too. 1970 2 wheeler( R.I.P) 1970 4 wheeler
and a 2wheeler from 1972. My 1970 2wd survived my high school years, it still puzzles me how that thing managed to survive.
In respons to your question, I like the fact that the parts are cheap, easy to come by and I can do it all my self saving money for other things. Also got to love the body style.

All-time favorite thing? I love the styling on these years, beautiful proportions! I used to camp a lot and these year trucks were the most popular by far in the campgrounds and on the roads back then. The owners were just as passionate about them too, we exchanged lots of good Ford tough stories.
Another thing I like is these trucks are solid! My current truck has 180k on it and there is not a single squeak or rattle! And the door sounds like a vault when closed. How about those forged hinges? Even the sheet metal is thicker than the later models.
But most of all it’s a looks thing!
Barry
congrats on the milestone! For sure, my # of posts pales in comparison to yours but hey, we all have to start somewhere!
What do I love about my truck? Well, for one, the parts are cheap and they are easy to work on. In addition, I love the body styling. Last but definitely not least, they are real workhorses! I routinely load up my 69 F250 4x4 with firewood and it hauls it like a champ! Trucks today cant do what I do with mine; IMHO, they dont make them like they used to! Ill never get rid of my rides. In fact, I plan on restoring them all and when I get married, Im going to pass them on to my children. Hopefully, they will appreciate them like I do.
Barry, your advice here on the boards is invaluable! Its so refreshing to have a person like yourself here on the boards who is sooooo passionate about these classics! Keep up the good work! Once again jim, congrats!
regards
Ben

I am a new user....and would be lost without you seniors!!! I helped my buddy rebuild a 72 F100 when I was in High School back in the late 80's. Since, I have always wanted to repeat that for one of my own....I finally bought one 3 months ago from some dude on ebay!!! My wife still has not forgiven me, especially with it sitting in the garage with the heads needing replacement... I have become addicted to looking for parts to fix this...and....that, and being able to work on it without having to be a rocket scientist!!! You and everyone else helping each other out....ensures that there will always be 1967-1972 FORD TRUCKS on the roads across AMERICA!!!!!! Keep it going.....

Even the sheet metal is thicker than the later models.
I have rust spots in my bed where the sheet metal is thicker than the newer models!
As far as the question is concerned. Well there ain't nothing like climbing in an engine compartment, sitting on the wheel well, and working on an engine. Sure beats connecting a computer to it and running diagnostics that may tell you what is wrong.
Price is another thing. (Rounded figures for example purposes only)
Truck- $2,000
Rebuilt Engine- $5,000
Frame up resto- $10,000
Total-$17,000
New F250- $40,000
Can't beat that!
I remember that sound caught my attention one day while I was reading with the TV on in the background, I looked up and and saw some old guy in a '68 or '69 start-up and take-off down some dusty farm road. I have no clue as to what the movie/program was, but I would bet it did not use a dubbed-in soundtrack.
The '70 I drive to and from work has over 360K on it and the only Ford-related rattles are from the front disk brakes-- the caliper pins & bushings are geting sloppy.
While I listed my two favorites, those cerainly aren't the only things I like about my truck. I think the styling is just exceptional. I regularly sit and stare at the profile of my truck and think how beautiful (mushy) it really is. I also like my gigantic CS mirrors even though they are not the most efficient and howl in the wind....something about hanging my left arm out the window with my hand wrapped around the support. Try that in any new vehicle.
Green Goblin, I remember a few years ago when I was in the middle of my restore, I was obsessed with looking for parts. Now that I'm basically done (yeah right) I still enjoy searching around for anything that might upgrade mine just a bit more, i.e. NOS aluminum trim pieces, lenses, instrument and radio bezel, etc.
Take care all.
This is what I love about this site. PROFESSIONAL people who are all willing to help another Ford fan no matter what with answering a question.
What I love about these trucks? Many things. The look, the sound, the power of an FE. Also the fact that you don't see that many in good shape on the road today.
