Just bought a 2000 F250 7.3L Diesel and have an issue with the starting circuit. (I think) Sometimes when I turn the key to start, nothing happens under the hood. No noises, no cranking. I can start the motor by shorting across the starter solenoid on the fender, but can't activate the starter with the key. I thought the solenoid was bad since it starts when I bypass it, but a replacement didn't have any effect. Where can I get a wiring diagram for the starting circuit? Thanks.
I believe you can still buy the CD with the info you are looking for on it on ebay. That's were I got mine. For both the car AND the truck. Decent pricing too. As a bonus, it also has all the repair manual with it!
Go to autozone's site and register. Plug your truck in and go to "vehicle repair guides". The go to "wiring diagrams". The have excellent diagrams for the later year trucks. Your year is borderline though, I can't remember when they started with the good diagrams. The earlier year truck diagrams are not very good, but it's still worth a look, they are free. If you can't find "wiring diagrams" look under "chassis electrical" and then you will find "wiring diagrams. If you have to do this, then that's usually the older type diagrams that are not the greatest.
