Took mine under warranty and they said there was a problem with these and replaced it, no charge. Even if your out of warranty, ya might soft talk the dealer and tell him you heard Ford knows if this problem and see if he can help ya out

They were bought out (twice) now and Sam Pack Ford in Plano does not want to stand by much of anything related to the old dealership. I even bought a special 10 oil change card and it has been a battle to get them to honor that. The gave me a courtesy ride when my steering wheel started peeling off and ran over my lawn in the rain, left a big rut and broke a sprinkler off. I waited about a month to mention the cowling and the Ford emblem because I just didn't feel like hearing all the excuses I knew I would get and when I told them both problems happened at slightly over 37,000 miles, they were so quick to correct me and tell me it NOW has 38,000 miles (since March). I remember because I got my oil changed to go to OKC to watch the Jayhawks first tourney game.
Anyway, gotta love 'em! They are only trying to save a buck for Ford. I know why my other car is an Audi.
live and learn!! plastic sucks on trucks, go aluminum and save alot of money. how much did you pay for your emblems?
You're not immune to issues with aluminum either. It may be more durable to rock chips, but you've still got pitting, tarnishing and corrosion to deal with. Especially if you're in a climate where you see any amount of road salt.
ive had mine for about a year and we got 65+ inches of snow last winter and they look like new still and i dont even polish them. just basic soap and water. and when i get the pressure washer near them i have no worrys about the clear coat blowing off. they are not indistructable but they are one hell of alot better than the plastic stock ones
