Thanks to everyone on here for your input, thoughts, and instruction on fuel injectors. When I first started looking at different posts and Bismics spreadsheets on the job, I was a bit overwhelmed and nervous. I changed the #3 injector today in about 4 hours (including driving into town for the new injector) and had an answer from here on every issue and question I run into. It was kinda tricky getting the torque wrench on the injector, the blower housing is in the way, but I made it fit. Ive also learned the importance of running additive in the fuel. Thanks again

Aluminum head, coat the tap with grease, take it slow and put a 1/8" tube on a vacum and get anything out that you may or may not have missed. Install insert with locktite and go for it. Lot easier than pulling a head. Depending of course on cylinder and access.
What did you see that made you realize the importance of running additives?
Well, I have been through quite the process while narrowing the problem I was having down to an injector. I knew it was a fuel problem, so I had done multiple searches on "fuel", "fuel injectors", "fuel pump", etc. Almost every thread had conversation about the new diesel fuel with the low sulfer content everybody is selling nowadays (thanks E.P.A.) and how they took all the lubrication out of the fuel. The injectors in the 6.0 depend on the lubrication from the fuel to lubricate them, so, since the new fuel has none, it is important to use additives to lubricate the injectors. Thats my understanding, anybody have any other reasons?

Reason: Big fingers
I used the heli coil let it set overnight for locktite to dry so far AOK. I think the other inserts are bigger than heli coils, so I can always go bigger john
