Smile My first mod! (with pics)

Alright guys after posting a forum and reading about it i jumped on the IC foil delete as soon as i got home. Took like 2 hours but i also kinda messed around and took my time. I found my IC pipe is aluminium while i was at it. But all in all I finally did my first mod and love how much louder the turbo sounds. Next to come is a 6637 kit from Clay!

Forgot to take a pic till i started takin off stuff

The pipe removed

The pipe reinstalled

Everything back together

so when you have that intercooler pipe off would that be a good time to measure the tube size for ordering a boot kit from clay? do you measure the intercooler connection or the tube side? and do you need to measure both sides of the intercooler?

Looks good!

Off the webpage:

You will need to measure the inlet and outlet size of your intercooler to know what you have. We do not make a universal boot that fit both because fitment should be snug. Your intercooler tubes are 3" on all years so you don't even need a tape measure, just take off the boots and see if it will fit on the inlet/outlet of the intercooler. If you need help with sizing please give us a call to ensure you get what you need.

Congrats on the first mod, like the guys said, we all remember our first mods. One thing though, that foil really looked dark, like it was overheated or burned or something, that wouldn't be an exhaust leak would it, being close to the manifold, just saying. Mine didn't look like that.

I wondered about that cause it was dark. I don't really think it was the foil that was burnt but im not too sure. The black/brown crap all over it seemed like it was dirt that was just thrown up in there or something at some point and got hot and burned. On the opposite side of the engine down to the right of the battery there is a pipe i think about 4 inches thick and it is covered in this black goo/dirt crap, that stuff is everywhere! If you look at the boots and clamps on the left and right side of the turbo you can see where it was dirty when i started and just took a rag and wiped the stuff off to reveal nice shiny clamps..so i don't know whats going on under there but its pretty dirty.

Yea, just wondering, if it just wiped off your problebly right, just dirt and grime over the years. That oily grime you see around your boots and pipe connections is from most likely your stock CCV. Alot of us if not most of us do the CCV mod, do a search and you'll see why, alot of threads pertaining to that mod. I did mine with stuff I gathered up in the garage but Clay sells a nice complete kit.
