Depends what it`s in to an extent. Poor acceleration, vibration running through truck, no lockup when crusing or lockup on starting and engine stalling when put in Drive.
Probably more that I haven`t thought of.
it is in a 1992 f150 extended cab 4x4, 5.0, aod tranny, 1356 borg warner transfer case. when i first start the truck it will drive fine in reverse for a few seconds but as soon as it gets warm just a little it will dog out in reverse. after it gets good and warm it will do it in drive too but only from a stop. after you get rolling it drives fine. i noticed the other day that it is worse when it has a load on it. everyone keeps telling me it is the torque converter???????
what i mean by "dog out" is if you dont give it lots of gas it will stall. Once the truck gets warmed up i have to put in nuetral at every stop light or it will stall then too. then when i put it back into drive when the light changes it will stall unless i give it lots of gas. you almost have to " put the pedel to the metel."
It could be the torque converter lockup clutch being applied at idle.
However are you sure that the endine is good at idle?
When was the last time the trans had a fluid and filter change (how many miles ago)?
Do you ever get a Check Engine Light on?
i just got the truck so i am not sure when it had its last fluid and filter change. and no the check engine light is not on and hasnt been on. the truck will set in park and idle all day. it revs good sounds great. all the fluids look good but i dont know when they were changed last. My wife has been driving this truck for about three weeks and she puts over 100 miles on it everyday, so it runs good except for the stalling problem....
Ford Fuel Injection Idle Air Bypass (IAB) Have a read here. Dusty may be right, maybe it needs cleaned to control the idle better.
Another question, if the truck is at operating temperature and stopped at, say, a stop sign and in N when you put it into Drive does the truck lurch forward? Sort of like a manual transmission would do if you let the clutch out without giving it any gas.

Still stuck on the lockup converter thing, eh? He said AOD man, not E4OD, the AOD has no lockup clutches inside the converter - instead it has and extra shaft coming out of it, IIRC it's driven directly off the converter's housing, and is used in 3rd and 4th gear - essentially in 3rd and OD the turbine in the converter is bypassed and the engine drives the transmission directly, which is why upshifting from 3rd gear into OD with a good line pressure usually shakes the entire vehicle - It's kinda like dumping the clutch on a manual trans.
you really need to clean the iac, especially if no codes, if it is carboned up, it will not idle, especially if the a/c is on. lots a left foot on the brake at idle action. 2 bolts with a 10mm socket, a can of brake clean, and put it back together. most times the gasket is still useable. the truck will run like a brand new one, for 10 mins spent. or you could take it to a trans shop, spend 2 grand, bring it home, and clean the iac when done..thanks for the comment on the pic. tryin to catch me a waskelly wedneck. hahahaha

Wow! Thank you. I was an inch away from asking if the OD light was blinking!
