I have a 06 F150 supercab with the 5.4 litre it now has 59000 miles on it and i am wanting to get alot of maintenance done to it such as trans and transfercase and axle fluid changed, but i was wondering if i should change out the spark plugs and do a tuneup on it? Are the plugs pretty easy to change or should i have a shop do them? Also id there anything else i should have done to it?
I'd replace the spark plugs now or they will be much harder to do later. They're supposed to be good for 100,000 miles but then you'd probably have a costly replacement. The fuel filter should be replaced too. Here's a link to information on the spark plugs issue. Mine was the last post. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...no-issues.html
I'm originaly from Buckley, Michigan. My family still lives around there.
Well if you are going to do it yourself you need to have a special spark plug socket, it is 9/16 size not the standard 5/8. Also a one peice design is recommended(not using and extension). Also, you should have the lisle extracting tool on hand and follow the tsb. If you are going to have it done I would recommend the dealer to do it. You could find a shop who might try to do it, but you want someone who knows what they are doing. Some shop might say "yeah I'll do it" and not know what they are getting into. Here's my story: I had the dealer do mine on my 04 screw 4X4 at 79,000. they broke 6 of the 8 and had to replace a coil. ended up being 1,000. they guy said that was the worst they had had. he said that most of them were about 500. Good luck.
I left there in 1961 when I garduated from High school. I see pictures in the summer and wouldn't mind being there. Pictures of the winter are another story. My brother has sent pictures of his place in winter. In Oregon it doesn't get so cold and we get snow some winters that only last a day or so. Visiting in Sep or Oct is great though.
