Hi I have a 2007 F350 6.0 and have always had belt noise under load. I went to see what is involved in changing the drive belt and noticed my belt diagram shows an additional pulley directly under the alternator. Basically it shows the alternator at the high point then two pullies about 5 inches below which squeeze the belt about 200 degrees around the alternator.
I don't have the pulley below on the left and my belt covers about 120 degrees on the top of the alternator..
Anyone know what I am talking about ??? Am I missing a pulley?? Maybe an upgrade or mod I was supposed to get?
Welcome to FTE. Odds are you're looking at the diagram that includes the 2nd optional alternator. Just leave out the missing pulley when trying to snake the new belt in place. While the belt is off is a good time to spin all the pulleys and see if any sound or feel funny.
The diagram has the optional 2nd alt diagram and even without the 2nd alt the diagram does not match up. Was there any changes between 2006 and 2007 6.0L engines/truck? I am taking it in the Berge Ford tomorrow to see what they say.
