Well I searched but couldn't find my answer. My service engine soon light came on and I tried to get it scanned but the auto stores around here can't read my truck. So what causes the ses light to come on and where can I get it scanned?
Thanks,
Auto part chain stores cannot read our codes for PSD's. You need to either: go to a dealer, go to a diesel certified repair garage or get ahold of someone with an AE tool on their laptop. There are some handheld programmers that can also read codes. Hopefully someone can chime in on what types are out there that can perform a scan on your truck.

Ok thanks. Just curious do you know why the auto chain stores can't read our trucks?
Anyone in the Houston area have an AE I could use?

Because our 7.3 motor was designed as a medium duty truck engine so it's not OBDII compliant when it comes to engine specific codes.
Yes there are members in the Houston area with AE. Maybe the bump back to the top will help them see you. You might also ask down in the Texas chapter just in case. If you've got any reason to travel up toward Hillsboro, I'll read them for you.
