I have been pondering the idea of installing a 4 speed granny low in my 74 460/c6. I was wondering what bell housing i would need as well as what donor car would i get the clutch pedal etc from. Is this a hard conversion? Thanks for any info.
My buddy with a 79 429 4x4 c6 is planning on doing the same thing. He said its not hard but hes pretty handy with that kind of thing. Evidently he got all the pedals and pedal linkages from a donar at a junkyard. He also said something about needing longer rear drivelines i beleive.
Get the whole clutch and brake pedal assemnly from a truck with a four speed. The best way to go would be to find a whole donor truck with all linkage and everything. Pretty much bolt and unbolt deal then.
I am considering doing the opposite in the next couple weeks. I have a 1978 with a 400M that has a np 435 I am going to remove and put a C6 in. Where are you located? If you want the pedals I will sell them to you cheap. Not sure what shipping would be though. If I keep this truck i will be doing this conversion by May 15th which is my first trail ride weekend. I am going to put the whole truck on ebay tonight though but I doubt it will sell.
