I went to the spring carlisle car show yesterday. It was a busy there which I guess is nice, as compared to recent years. So anyhow I took a few pictures of some dents where I could. There was one or two that I did not get pictures of.
This is a 1973 with a 390, I saw it drive by later in the day, and it sounded real nice.
Here is a 1974, I am not sure if you can read the windshield
and for you 4X4 guys,......
This a 1979 F100 300 I6 Explorer out of virginia that was getting parted out. The rear bumper was gone, the bed was unbolted and already sold. It still had the original plug wires on it, and there was 65,xxx on the clock. automatic, manual brakes w/ AC.
I noticed a lodge emblem on the tailgate, so I guess and older guy kept it for all theres years. It was not apparant who owned it, other than calling the cell number listed on it.
I was talking to a few guys there and we figured there was no title as to why it was getting parted out in such great condition. I am sure they were getting top dollar for everything, but it was still sad to see this happening.
Nice trucks. I suppose the guy who owned the last truck wouldn't sell the whole thing and just wanted to part it out like some moron who didn't care about it anyway. No title or not, keep the truck whole. Someone could have bought the whole thing and swapped the entire body over on to a chassis with a title (perfectly legal). However, parting it out would bring more money than selling the truck whole, but very sad to see such a nice truck get parted out.
I am hearing more and more of this kind of story every day. Sad but true, these trucks are worth more in parts than as a whole truck. Parts for 70's F-series are getting harder to find these days and people will pay top $ for the part (s) they need to finish their restoration. Many people want to build a truck rather than buy someone's finished truck. -Ed
What a sin to se that get stripped that way, the truck looks perfect but parts are fetching big money around . That box would go for 2,500 to 3 grand here in that condition. Teh other trucks in the post look nice to, Dad had a 73 that lookes identicle to the 74 right down to the colour.
There were a few other dents there that looked real nice and all, but they had the wrong mirrors on, some over spray issues, wrong motor, and they wanted $!2,000 for them.
I also saw a black/silver 1979 regular cab in real nice shape on a trailor, the owner wanted $1500 firm. Only thing it needed was a seat.
I agree with bucks77ford, that body needed switched over, and retitled, it looked as if it was only a few years old. I would have considered it to be in time capsule condition, and one of my serious buff jobs and it would have been cherry!
The explorer that was getting parted out belonged to the guy across the aisle. He buys trucks up and parts them out for top dollar. He had 2 other beds on friday, along with doors and some other odds and ends. That truck was pretty spotless, just look at the cab floor! VERY SAD TO TEAR APART!
Surprisingly, there was a descent amount of parts for dents that i ran across. I can't wait for ford carlisle, i don't think i'll make truck carlisle though!

I am going to try and make both the Ford and truck shows this year. Yeah, there was a fair amount of dents stuff, which is nice to see!!
