Rear axle seal
I'm pretty sure my rear axle seal blew out. I have oil/fluid pooling up inside my hubcap on my rear pasenger side. Am I on the right track? I didn't hear any unusual noise and it sound fine when I drive it. I did stop driving it as soon as I noticed this morning, it had to have happened yesterday or Saturday. If this is the problem, how much should I expect it to cost? '01 7700 in my sig. She goes to the dealership Thursday morning, quoted $250 - $300 unless they also have to replace the brakes because of the fluid all over them, then about $450. They haven't looked at it yet, I just told them what I saw and thought.

i just did that on a F150 9.75 axle last weekend. Seal was $10. took 3 hours. I washed the brake pads off and ran them over the belt sander to scuff up. They are not porus enough to soak up oil. You also need 2.5 quarts of 75 w 140 gear lube and a bottle of friction modifier. (another $50.)
