Yes it will bolt up to the transmission, but the oil pan will have to be a rear sump to work in the 4wd. the motor mounts will have to be changed also, you'll have to buy after market mounts, nothing off the 351m will work on the 460 other than the distributor.
Thanks,, I have the complete truck that the 460 is going to come out of.. Can I use the motor mounts off that truck. It is a complete running unit. The other 351m is dead and blown...
I can salvage anything off the 1977 with the 460...
My biggest question was where one was 4X4 and the other 2 wheel.. Did not know what alterations if any would be needed...
The F250 will not work with the 150 4wd,they are different. They are hard to find for the 250 and can be sold to offset the cost of the aftermarket mounts, i bought mine mounts from Bronco Grave Yard and they have worked great. I think I gave around a 100.00 for them.
thanks... I had one guy tell me that the 4x4 transfer case will not work with the 2x2 transmission from the 460. Is this true? He said I would need a different mount for this as well. He indicated that I would have to use the motor (460 and transmission) from the 1977 truck in the 1979 Ford 4x4 f150. He told me that I would need the motor mounts oil pan and rear sump.. also that the transmission bracket and 4x4 transfer case mounts would need to be changed.
Cant I just use the C 6 transmission from 79 F150 4x4 with the 460 and the afte market mounts??? Thanks in advance...
Yes the 460 will bolt up to the transmission thats behind the 351,all you will need is the rear sump oil pan and the aftermarket engine mounts. you will not have to move any mounts on the transmission or transfercase, with the aftermarket engine mounts and correct oilpan its a bolt in swap.
