I just bought a 99 f-350 last week. When I bought it, the dealer didn't have the keyless entry control. Well I received a new one in the mail today, but have no clue as to how to program it. any help is appreciated. Thanks

Instructions from the owners manual:
----------------------------------------

To program the transmitters it is necessary to have all (maximum of four — original and/or new) of your remote transmitters available prior to beginning this procedure.

To program the transmitters yourself:

* Ensure the vehicle is unlocked.

- Place the key in the ignition and turn from LOCK to OFF
and cycle between OFF and ON eight times in rapid
succession (within 10 seconds)with the eighth turn ending in the
ON position. The doors will lock to confirm that programming
mode has been entered.

- Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any
button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that
the remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds
pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming
mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)

- Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters.
The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has
been programmed.

- When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn
the ignition to OFF or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will
lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

ford also advises that you will get better range if you reduce possible static interferance while programming. it is suggested that you complete this whole procedure while wearing plastic baggies over you hands (and IMO you would be better off wearing a large trash bag as a poncho too!)

I have an 03 250SD XLT, I did not order the Advanced Security Group, but I have a transmitter from my old F150 brand new, do all the XLTs have the ablity to have remote entry programmed?

NO! A truck without keyless entry has a different power lock system than a truck with keyless entry. I found that out when I installed the remote starter. If you want keyless entry, go to walmart and get a Bulldog remote starter for $70 and install it. You will also need to order a $10 relay (from Bulldog website) so that you can hook up your locks. That will add the starter and keyless entry. Oh, unless you have the PSD... then forget what I said... the Bulldog won't work.

Ok. So I just ordered the Ford Gold Remote System. Will that give me all the bells and whistles no matter what was installed at the factory?

I have an appointment to have it put in 2nd week in Feb.

How much are they charging you? I'm assuming this is a dealer install, right?

 

I bought the unit for $353, and the company (not the dealer, but the same companyt the dealer WOULD have used..) is charging another $180.

If I had the dealer do the install they wanted an additional $300. Guess everyone needs to make a buck...
