Battery / Start-up issues

My truck has been sitting for about 6 months during my build. I just bought a new battery and replaced both terminals. You know how when you hook up the battery for the first time and you go to start, all your gauges max out for a couple seconds, then reset? Well mine is now doing that everytime I start the truck. I've checked all connections, all grounds everything is good.
My ground wire is frayed in a couple spots by the starter, but its not touching anything so I don't think that can be an issue.
Any ideas?

I have the same issue. This issue randomly started one day with out any prompt. I just replaced the battery and the problem persists. At start up, the gauges peg, it takes longer than normal for the fuel pump to prime, and then after start up the he check engine light comes on. I put a code reader on the truck and it said that the computer is not receiving enough voltage at start up to store saved records. My trip odometer resets at every start up as well.

1. Clean your grounds.
2. Don't buy cheap battery.

I have seen the main power wire to the starter actually split in two from battery acid leaching down the cable from years of sulfation of the battery. Check the cables good. Make sure your charging system is healthy and properly charging the battery.
