code and leak

I found this file in a thread, cuda Jim posted it as well.
it lists my thoughts in at least 1 or 2 of them. I skimmed it, it was to much jibba jabba for me.

Anyways. I got a really strange leak on my truck. I thought it was comin from the front of the motor, but it is going down the valley.

I think my IPR is leaking just enough to set a p1211 code, this possible?
It doesn't leak all the time, usually when I shut the truck down it will have small puddles under it and 2 of them where it drips off the flywheel cover.

Never any bigger than a coffee cup.

Its not the pedestal or turbo o-rings. I'm not sure how I'm getting some residue on the pedestal, but it might be from when I assembled it back into the truck, cause I had cleaned the turbo and dumped oil in it when I was dorking around seeing how it worked using the air compressor. So, with new o-rings there, I should be good.
That leaves the IPR and ICP, and the one on the rail isn't leaking. I should pull the connector and check it I guess?

I'd really like to have a "no leak" truck.
DOH!

Not really what I was looking for. I'm not even sure if that is my leak.
Not a bad thought though.
I'm sure its not the HPOP. I'm not loosing much oil.

The only way to find the leak is to clean the valley spotless and find the source. I usually use brake cleaner to get the really nasties out then follow with simple green and hot water repeatedly if need. I start with a WARM NOT HOT engine so things are already getting soft. once it clean start it up and see where it starts.

My valley is spotless.

I get a little trickle of oil that runs down the drivers side and around the bend to the hole.

I cleaned it out when I had the pedestal off.

It is not a constant leak, thats why I'm having trouble finding it.
I just notice it leaking after driving and idling it down. I'm not loosing lots of oil, so I know its not a constant leak.

Is it coming down the inside of the driverside head like under the turbo intake area? Maybe CCV housing leaking or CCV mist leaking from the turbo intake tube?

Not CCV for sure.
Thats clean cept for inside every time i take it apart, cept for the inside of course.

I can see a small stream where it follows the valley from under the pedistal from the front it looks like.

With the tape I got on the intake boot, no oil is coming outa there.
Commercial grade tape, it doesn't forgive much. If i take it off the boot, the boot will rip apart.
Thats why I'm thinking the IPR is only leaking at certain pressures from the pump.

I think maybe the best thing I could do is shove some paper towels in under the fuel bowl and see if that stops any leaks from up by the HPOP?

The clean valley and paper towels will help you locate the leak but not stop it.

I'm trying to find it, but i was hoping everyone in here would have some better ideas.

My valley stays clean cept for that little trickle there on the drivers side.

Would you like me to take a pic of the oil spot you left in my driveway?

I think you have more than one leak, from the brief time we looked at it. Remember your pedestal. The oil that is running down it and not above where the turbo bolts up. There is definately some fresh oil on the pedestal.

Take a close look at the plugs on your heads and the ICP as well. It is on the drivers side. I agree with Tim you will have to clean it up and not just the valley. Clean the front of the motor where you say it is so nasty and caked on. If you can get a hose connected to the washing machine hot line. Soak it is simple green and empty the water heater on it. I have done this at the car wash but not many people recommend doing it with high pressure but it has been done you just have to be careful.
