This is my first time doing a rebuild i have knowledge on how to take it apart an put it back to gather but my question is what trick r there if there are any like using studs to line up the head gasket with the head any thing like that. Also what parts should i put assembly lube on an how do i set up the rings on my pistons so they work right an have no blow by pic would help but if u can explain good that would help to. I try to watch some tv shows like truck cuz they did a build on my engine by the way it is a 460 efi set up i am rebuilding. Any thing u can think of would help.
My advice is to get a book. The Ford Shop Manual is best but books such as Engine Builder's Handbook by Tom Monroe are full of info you will need and written for the enthusiast. Tom had put out a book that covered the 335 and 385 series engines a while back but I didn't see it in a quick Google search.
i have seen alot of books out there but did not want to go out an buy one an find out that it is no help to me. Ill look in to that see if anyone els has used one an ask them how much help they were to them.
no they r not missing they r still there but the heads r heavy to lift an put on with out moving the gasket. But i really want to look for a good book.
