302 fuel injection

I have a 70 F100 2wd long box that has 302, auto, and PS. I am thinking about up dating the engine to 302 fuel injection. I found a 89 F150 for parts that has engine and all wires. Can this be done relative easy?
Thanks for all the help.

I did a 5.0 efi swap and I'd say it's relatively easy IF you're good with wiring. Personally I'd pass on the speed density F150 motor and try to find a MAF Mustang motor. Much easier to work with.

Search for posts by me and you'll find info on my swap.

Well that tells me how much you know about EFI. Maybe you're better off not doing the swap.

LOL you're right man... even the most knowledgable people started off not knowing anything! Sorry for being harsh.

MAF means mass air flow. Most the Mustang motors came with MAF sensor. Basically the MAF sensor measures the actual mass of air entering the engine. The computer applies a certain air mass-to-fuel mass ratio and viola, you have a running engine. As air flow increases fueling increases with it. Very simple and effective system.

Speed density means the computer is looking at the engine speed and air density. Engine speed is obviously rpm and air density is computed by looking at manifold pressure (MAP sensor) and air temp. Based on changes in manifold pressure the computer can infer airflow and apply a certain amount of fuel. Also very simple but slightly less adaptive than MAF engine management.

Basically you can make small air flow changes to a MAF motor and the ECU will correct the fueling to match the change in air flow. Speed density motors are tuned for one configuration only. If something significantly changes the air flow into the motor then the computer must be retuned to correctly meter fuel flow.

So anyways, I think the genearl concensous is that MAF motors from a Mustang are easier to work with.
