Axle Identification

I am needing help to exactly identify my axle. First off it came from a 1986 Ford E 150 Conversion Van. I know it is a 9 inch, but wondering the other info such as gearing? Could it be a Dana? Posi?
Here is what the axle tag shows:

s716s
50 9 6f02

Thanks

If you know its a 9 inch then its not a Dana or posi. But 1985 was the last year Ford offered it, so I would say its the 8.8.

I don't know much about Ford parts, but it looks like a 9 inch I have seen in pictures. How can I tell for positive? Will those numbers from the axle tag tell me?

Thanks

Here's a great site or two to look at:

S716S // 50 9 6F02
From the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Rear Axle I.D. Decode Charts / Text, Section 40 / Page 20.

S716S = Ford WEV 9" Rear Axle / 3.50-1 / non Limited Slip / 3750 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

6F02 = Assembled June (F) 2, 1986 (6).
---------------------------------------
50 = 3 50. You omitted the 3.

9 = 9" Rear Axle.

1986 was the last year for the 9 inch, not 1985.

Some 1968, all 1969/86 9" rear axles as installed in F100/150's * were available with Limited Slip (L/S) as an option. Posi or Posi-Traction are a GM terms.

The 8.8" integral rear axle was introduced in 1983. Integral rear axles & Dana axles have an inspection cover. The 9" does not.

Some 1983/86 E100/150's and F100/150's have 8.8's, some have 9 inchers. It depended on the application.

*1959/67 and some 1968 F100's: If L/S was ordered, Ford installed the Dana 44 in these trucks. L/S was not available w/the 9" in F100's until mid-year 1968.
