ok, I built a 302 +.060 for my 73, it has a flat tappet xtreme energy 284cam 240in 246ex duration at .050, .541 .544 lift, i am running harland sharp 1.6 roller rockers, this is my first time running harland sharp rocker arms and they seem a bit noisy to me. I set my rocker arms while the engine was still on stand but after break in i decided to check the noise by checking the rockers by hot adjustment, the noise im hearing is much quiter than the normal excessive lash type clunking noise because as soon as i backed the first lifter off to get to make noise to return to zero lash i could tell a definite tone and volume difference, this noise is not from loose rockers but sounds more just like the rockers themselves? The last few sets ive ran werent this loud i thought, but there again they were louder exhaust so harder to hear and they had steel valve covers where as these are aluminum, they noise doesnt get louder with rpms but it doesnt stop either, just speeds up obviously, is this noise typical and i just being paranoid?
the heads are built with 2.02 1.60 valves with 986-16 springs which are comp specific to the cam, it runs great, revs high with no problems i really think these rockers are just that noisy was just hoping someone else might have experience with these rockers. thank you for the suggestion
I have never had excessive noise with Harland Sharp rockers. Mine have been as quiet as stock. If they are making noise I would think you got a bad one. Does it sound like its one or do all of them make the noise?

set preload according to comp specs, well during assembly but then did hot adjust just to double check myself, found the rocker... was having hard time finding it so just started swapping one for one from bank to bank until the noise jumped sides, thanks everyone, gotta love warranty lol
