I have had my motor installed for about 3 months and have about 6 hundred miles on it. I have noticed that the intake manifold gasket around all intake runners at head are soaked with gas. no drips or leaks, the gasket just soaks up the gas and was wondering if that is normal or maybe the intake and head isnt lined up perfect and gas hits the head before going down runner and has no were to go but out. more soak towards the back at #6. just wandering if anybody else has had this problem. I need to change the gasket anyway (exhaust leak at header) thanks.

I've never heard of it. I would sniff your dip stick and see if it smells like fuel. Convert to studs with crimp nuts. Grind oe washers on one side to sit flat. Coat both side of intake gasket with copper sealer around exhaust ports. Torque in two increments from center out in a clockwise spiral. Heat and run then cool and retorque 3 times. Good to go. Use the two piece gasket, exhaust is metalic.
your carb is leaking fuel out of the bowel, and it is puddeling in the intake. you need to fix this, or you will be rebuilding your motor real soon, ask f250 restorer about that.
could the carb be flooding do to electric fuel pump? It runs 6 psi. but that is all the time. what does a mechanical fuel pump run at idle? The engine runs good, no hard starts. no matter what time or temp, click the key and starts right up. I do smell fuel on the dip stick.

You need to fix that carb. I don't know what a manual pump runs at. But I would change the oil and filter quick. Try to measure how much oil is there, how much the level has gone up. Can you see gas dripping from the boosters? Tap the float bowls to make sure they are not stuck.
Which carb do you have? If it is an Edelbrock, I would call them. They have very good customer/tech line. Is your float level set too high?
sorry to butt in the thread but i have noticed that my intake gasket has soaked up some gas also. it is sealed up real good though to i didn't think much of it. could this be related to my poor idle/take off? what do you do to fix the carb if the float is ok? mine is an edelbrock.
it is an edelbrock 500 with eldelbrock electric feul pump. I will have to take it apart and look at everything. I have changed the oil in the motor 3 times. you can barely smell a trace of fuel. The carb was brand new but sat on shelf for 3 years so something might have happened. I will look into it.
I got home tonight and turned on the electric fuel pump and look down carb to see if floats were over flowing or to much pressure for it,but nothing so that rules that out. also I noticed on the head if I can remember that the fuel has a little hump to get over before going into head so maybe there is a little fuel left over when turned off and soaks into the gasket, just a thought. also if there is any fuel left in intake it all rolls down hill to #6 do to the motor being at a tilt. I guess just another thought.
Hey AJ, I agree with everyone else, it sounds like you have a fuel leak. If the carb sat for 3 years, I'd definitely rebuilt it since gaskets can just dry out and shrink if not in use, or you may have some debris blocking something causing flooding. I know it's a bit of work, but have you removed the intake gasket and see if it smells like fuel? Was wondering if it may be something else.
Also, have you put a fuel pressure check on the regulator to be sure it's at 6lbs? 6 - 8 is about where it should be, so if it is, you're okay there.
Don't know Edelbrock's myself, but this is just some general ideas to look for.
